Welcome to my blog!

Well, here I am with my new blog and I am super excited! I have wanted to begin a blog for ever so long and have now taken the plunge! I am here to share observations of God's goodness in my life, reflections and thoughts which may help others to see God in the every-day, and finally, I hope to pass along handy tips for living out a Christ-centered life in the family setting. But wait, there's more! I also intend to share ways to develop Catholicity in the classroom, even if you are not a Religion teacher.

My most recent God-centered moment stayed with me all day. And this is what happened.

I was walking into the lovely school where I teach Jr High students Religion (all day, every day! Yay for that blessing!) and I saw a dad playing frisbee with his two young sons in the parking lot. It was very early, before school started and seemed to me to be a wonderful moment where a young dad was being a great dad. Here they were spending valuable time together, and bonding the way that most of us would like to think our husbands and fathers would do. As I passed by the beautiful scene, I said hello, and a bright and cheery good morning was returned from the dad, who was obviously enthralled with his two young sons. The boys were laughing and chasing the frisbee that they clearly wished they had caught. They really seemed to be having a great time. And then, just before I opened the door to enter the school, I noticed something that brought tears to my eyes. The dad, who was wearing a pair of shorts, had one artificial metal leg. This man who obviously had much to be frustrated about was teaching his sons how to live life to the fullest, by being a great dad and making what he did have to share with them very meaningful. I don't know who this man is, or how I was privileged to be part of this moment, but I felt extremely blessed to have witnessed someone who was making 'lemonade' out of the lemons that most people would consider to be in his life - and his kids didn't even seem to notice. All there was to really see was love and fun and a bonding moment!

I stopped and said a prayer of gratitude for the people in my life who teach me the most, and for those who don't even know that they are doing that when they are simply living their lives and doing what they do.

May God bless you today and give you an opportunity to see His gracious goodness in your own life as you notice it in the lives of others.

Peace,
Beth
